Sue Hassel, Soprano & Piano – Recital

Free , 8pm

Sue Hassel, Soprano & Piano – Recital,  Friday night May 10 @ 8:00 p.m.

Sue Hassel is an all around musician; Soprano & Pianist, as well as published author,  painter and dancer.  For further info, check out her website:

She is carrying on a unique manner of performance which had been recommended to her  by one of her greatest musical inspirations. The precedent for this type of performance was set in Europe before WWII by a baritone who toured as a solo concert artist singing and playing simultaneously, with the great German song cycles in Austria and Germany, the majority of which were performed by men at the time.  Ms. Hassel  has been performing  in this unique manner for the last 15 years throughout the U.S. and she has tweaked it to include a much wider range of repertoire.  Touring in the U.S. she has also presented master classes and vocal clinics as well as composite concerts (featuring self-accompanied voice, solo piano, dance, original poetry, with her paintings frequently as backdrop since she feels that all the arts merge collectively from one unique inspiration, unique to the individual. Needless to say, the latter requires larger venues). She has also been involved as harpsichordist, organist, pianist, music director and conductor of operas and choral concerts over the years in the Midwest and NYC.  For the May 10 recital at Christ & St. Stephen’s Ms. Hassel will be performing  as Sue Hassel, Soprano & Piano only - in the manner of a traditional recital.

"The May 10 performance will feature music of Mozart, Milhaud, Rodrigo, Liszt, J.S Bach, Mahler, Mendelssohn and Schumann."
